And the first shall be Last
Posted on: Jan 23, 02:56 PMHey there pop pickers. With the recent deaths of Alan ‘fluff’ Freeman and TOTP, we realise you need to get your chart fix from somewhere. So we’ve formed an alliance with Last.fm which will now provide you with a weekly chart of what the Pranksters listening to.
Here’s this weeks offering’s
Pay attention now, here comes the science bit…
Head over to their site and download their scrobbler. Then, whenever you listen to a song through either Windows Media Player or iTunes, it uploads info about the track and starts logging. Pretty soon you build up a listening history which compiles charts for you and also pairs you to similar listeners. It also learns what you like and starts recommending new music for you to peruse. Interesting way to while away the hours (if you use your computer to play tracks, that is!)
...and it’s free. bonus !

I’ll be back, just save a seat for me”

Arthur Lee 1945 – 2006
Founder member and frontman of the band Love sadly died recently at the age of 61, after a fight with Leukemia
The self-proclaimed first black hippie, Lee was a main character in the ‘67 scene. He advised Elektra to sign the Doors, Jimi Hendrix copied his image and Led Zeppelin were influenced by his music
He had the proper rock n roll lifestyle, poor roots to success to drugs binge to addiction to jail and back again. Love produced one the greatest ever albums Forever Changes, which everyone should own!
Lee will now follow Syd Barrett to the great big psychedelic festival in the sky. The world just lost a bit of colour :(
Pranksters Power Up
Posted on: Jul 19, 04:01 PMCrank up the Gigawatts.

Resident’s of Edinburgh are being warned of possible fluctuations in the power network on the 26th July. Why?... because the Pranksters will be re-routing all available power to their electrifying set.
That’s right folk’s, all dials set to 11 and full steam ahead for an electrifying live performance at We Are …Electric, probably Edinburgh’s best weekly club
We are …Electric has been running for a year now and has seen some incredible night’s so far…(booka shade, m.a.n.d.y. + felix da housecat to name a few). It’s also a great showcase for local luminaries, and it’s free to boot!
Systems power up 26th Jul at 11pm in the backroom at Cabaret Voltaire (blair st.) and is expected to run out of juice around 3.
“charge” = free members + all b4 12, £2 after
... power to the people

Permission to Land.
As the weekend approaches, Edinburgh scrubs up for an honorary visit from the god’s themselves.
Yessirree bob, the almighty Electric Light Orchestra will land in the pranksters own back yard, to mentor their prodigies through the medium of progressive rock !
Unfortunately, his holiness, the right-on Jeff Lynne, will not be appearing in person (our fragile brains wouldn’t handle it, I reckon!) But Neil Lockwood steps up to the pulpit in the lord’s absence.
The faithfull should congregate at the playhouse on sat 24th june for the joyous celebration. (sacrificial virgins pls arrive earlier!)
Yes today, is the day we’ve waited for… a..a..ah.

Ably assisting the little general will be your local guerrilla’s, the Merry Pranksters (who else could support? you do have to wonder!)
Boot up and report to the City Nightclub (market st.) on fri 19th may at 22:30 sharp! Payload: £11 from usual suspects
The battle will be heavy, many casualties are predicted, but … the music shall prevail.
